Hi everyone,
I’m excited to announce the release of Nova DSO Tracker version 2.7.0! This update brings some significant enhancements to help you get even more out of your astrophotography planning.
What’s New in v2.7.0?
- Introducing the “Properties” Tab: The main object table now has a new “Properties” tab. This is where you’ll find key physical details for your targets, like Object Type, Magnitude, Angular Size, and Surface Brightness. These new columns are, of course, sortable and filterable to help you zero in on the best objects for your session. You can even filter for multiple types at once (e.g., “PN, SNR” or “Galaxy HII”).
- Smarter Data for Your Objects: I’ve put a lot of work into improving how Nova fetches these object properties. The system is now more robust in checking various astronomical catalogs (SIMBAD, VizieR) and using Stellarium as a fallback, so you should see more complete data for your listed objects.
- Improved Configuration Experience:
- The “Fetch Missing Details” button on the configuration page now gives you a heads-up with an estimated time, as this can be a lengthy process.
- The logic for re-fetching missing data (like “None” or “N/A” values) has also been improved.
- General UI Polish: I’ve made several small tweaks to improve column width consistency and how “N/A” values are handled in the table, aiming for a cleaner and more intuitive experience.
These changes are designed to give you more power and information right where you need it. As always, your data is stored locally in your config_*.yaml
file.
How to Get It:
