Hello fellow astronomy enthusiasts,
I’m currently working on the next update for Nova DSO Tracker, version 2.8.0, and I’m excited to give you a little preview of a significant new feature that’s been in development: an integrated Imaging Journal.
Many of us like to keep records of our observing or astrophotography sessions, and the aim of this new journaling function is to provide a convenient way to do just that, right within the tracker. The idea is to help you easily log those important details from your nights out – things like the session date, what you were observing, the location, prevailing sky conditions, and the specific equipment setup you were using.
For those who image with monochrome cameras, I’m also working on including ways to note down sub-exposure counts and times for different filters (L, R, G, B, Ha, OIII, SII), alongside general acquisition settings. The goal is to create a useful log that you can look back on to review your sessions, compare results, and perhaps see how your techniques evolve.
Version 2.8.0, including the new journaling capabilities, is still in the testing phase to iron things out. I’m hopeful it will become a valuable addition for tracking your astronomical adventures once it’s ready.
Stay tuned for more updates, and clear skies!
